To move tokens after they arrive, the receiving wallet needs a little of the destination chain's gas token. If it has none, Superbridge warns you before you start.
Why it matters
You'll see a screen titled with the token and chain, for example No ETH on Base. It says the recipient "doesn't have any ETH on Base. This address might not be able to send transactions after receiving these funds."
Your tokens will still arrive. But without gas, the wallet can't send, swap or bridge them until it gets some.
You can select Go back to change your transfer, or Proceed anyway if you'll get gas another way.
Get gas on the destination chain
Any of these work:
- Bridge a little of the gas token first. Send a small amount of the destination chain's gas token, such as ETH, before your main transfer.
- Receive the gas token instead. Choose the gas token as the token you receive. You can swap it for other tokens once it arrives.
A small amount is usually enough to cover several transactions on a rollup.
Chains with a custom gas token
Some chains, such as some Arbitrum Orbit chains, use their own token for gas instead of ETH.
When you deposit a token into one of these chains with the native bridge, part of the fee is paid in the chain's gas token, on the chain you send from. You'll see an extra Approve step for the gas token before you start. You need enough of the gas token in your wallet, or the route shows Insufficient funds.
Once your tokens arrive, you also need the chain's gas token to send transactions there.
Still stuck?
