Add a network to your wallet

beginner2 min read

Wallets only work with networks they know about. Before you bridge to a chain, make sure your wallet can add it. Otherwise your tokens will arrive, but you won't be able to see or move them from that wallet.

Why it matters

Many wallets come with a fixed list of popular networks. Newer chains often need to be added as a custom network.

Some wallets can't add custom networks at all. This is common with exchange wallets, some smart wallets and some mobile wallets. If you bridge to a chain your wallet doesn't support, the tokens are safe at your address. But you'll need to use a different wallet to move them.

Check that your wallet supports the destination chain before you bridge. If it can't add custom networks, bridge to a wallet that can.

The wallet check

The first time you send to a recipient on another chain, Superbridge asks you to confirm the wallet can use it. For example, the screen asks Can you use Base?

Select My wallet supports Base, or I have confirmed the recipient wallet supports Base if you're sending to someone else. Then select Complete the check.

Not sure? Select Add network on that screen to add the chain to your wallet first.

Add a network from Superbridge

  1. On the wallet check screen, select Add network.
  2. Superbridge shows the network's details: Network name, RPC, Chain ID, Currency Symbol and Block Explorer.
  3. Select Add network to wallet.
  4. Approve the request in your wallet. The wallet adds the network and switches to it.

If your wallet doesn't show a request, add the network manually. Most wallets have an "Add network" or "Custom network" option in their network settings. Copy each detail from the Superbridge screen.

Wallets without custom networks

If your wallet can't add custom networks:

  • Before bridging: connect a wallet that can, or add the address of a wallet that can as the recipient. Send to another address
  • After bridging: if your wallet has a recovery phrase, import it into a wallet app that supports custom networks. Your tokens appear once you add the network there. For exchange or smart wallets without a recovery phrase, contact the wallet's support.

Never share your recovery phrase with anyone, including Superbridge support. Only enter it into a wallet app you installed yourself. Scams and security
